JEEP PEOPLE : What to do with your empties.

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Fri, May 08, 2009 @ 09:30 AM

We recycle everything we can, but we started rethinking recycling our empties after seeing what we COULD be doing with them:

 Amazing Jeep Art

I can't say enough good things about the artists I find on etsy. I could spend hours looking at all the great pieces of art there. I've purchased many items, including several one of kind Jeep art pieces. I am also thinking about picking up this cute Beaded Beach Jeep

But, enough playing. I'm closing my etsy.com window and going back to work. ;)

Jeep Foot Pegs aka the CVS

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Wed, Apr 29, 2009 @ 04:47 PM

Ahhh, yesterday it was 90 degrees here and driving around in the topless Jeep, I was wishing I was a dude. Dudes get to use the CVS, and they look cool. I'd just look plain stupid.

"OK, she ain't talking about the pharmacy, what the heck is she talking about?", you are wondering. I'm talking about Jeep Foot Pegs, aka CVS aka the Crotch Ventilation System.

Jeep Foot Pegs

When you take the doors off your Jeep, these Jeep Foot Pegs fit into the empty lower door hinge and give you a comfortable place to put your left foot. They fold back when not in use and a rubber pad protects your paint. We don't recommend them when 'wheelin' because we don't want you sticking body parts outside the Jeep and getting hurt. But for a casual Sunday drive, in 90 degree weather, with the doors off the Jeep and the breeze nowhere to be found, they'll keep the sweat down (if you know what I mean).

$50 will get you set, (one for you, one for your buddy riding shotgun) 2 different models available. Jeep Footpegs at www.allthingsjeep.com

Jeep Folding Camping Chair

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 @ 04:43 PM

I am so happy to finally have a decent quality Jeep Folding Outdoor Chair in stock at www.allthingsjeep.com. Customers have been asking for this for about 4 years now and there's never been a licensed manufacturer making a Jeep Chair designed for outdoor use. Until now. Check it out.

Jeep folding camping chair

The fine qualities of this Jeep Folding Chair:

- cool mesh "Jeep grille" design on the back keeps my backside from sweating too much

-handy carry bag with shoulder strap and Jeep logo

-cup holder for my water bottle

-nice Jeep green coloring matches the pine trees in my backyard

- big and comfy. Tested by everyone here from a 6'3" 250 pound dude to a 85 pound 8 year old. Everyone gave it a thumbs up.

-My favorite feature: A build in insulated cooler on the right side which will hold a few drinks, a couple of sandwiches and some Oreos.

At $50, you can definitely find cheaper at Wal-Mart, but I think this one will last you a few years and feel good on your tush. In addition, it looks like the front of my Jeep. 'Nuff said.

We'll be bringing them to Go Topless Day in two weeks to give them the full day evaluation. Stop by our booth to give it a test drive!

2 door versus 4 door 2009 Jeep Wranglers

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 @ 11:59 PM

Ok, today you get my biased opinion on why you should never buy a 2 door Jeep Wrangler JK today if you can afford a 4 door. They are just too darn small!

We just came back from a Florida beach vacation. (It was fantastic, thanks for asking.) When I called the car rental places down there, they all said that they did not have Jeeps (only in Hawaii). So I used priceline.com to get a great deal on a mid-sized econobox. However, once we got down there and were at the Avis counter filling out the paperwork, the counter person happened to ask, "What kind of vehicle do you drive at home?" When we said a Jeep, she smiled and said they happened to have one available for  rent that day, for only $8 more per day. Well, how can you turn that down? We didn't. And ended up piling 2 grown-ups, 2 almost grown-up kids, 4 duffel bags and a computer case (still had to check email/the website) into the back seat/cargo area of a cute little 2 door JK with only 1800 miles on it.

I wouldn't have had it any other way, but man, was that thing small compared to the 4 door I am now used to driving. I forgot how fun but cramped the 2 door is. The kids love the open air, topless feeling. But at the end of every ride, the teenager crawled out of the back seat barely able to move her legs!

So, my take on the 2 door... if you are never going to have more than 2 humans in your Jeep at once, grab one. BUT, if you having growing humans in your family, give them a break, do your part to prevent permanent damage to their growing legs, and let them spread out in a 4 door. They will be grateful.

(And the second lesson for today is that Avis often has Jeep rentals available at their Florida coast counters. Just ask.)

Rubicon Trail Closure

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Thu, Apr 16, 2009 @ 02:06 PM

Posted on behalf of the National Off-Road Association.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

On Thursday, April 23rd the California Water Quality Control Board is having a public hearing in Rancho Cordova to finalize their decision on closing the Rubicon Trail.

We are asking all NORA supporters within driving distance of Sacramento to attend this important public hearing.  Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) enthusiasts need to show the Water Board the overwhelming public support to keep the Rubicon Trail open year-round.  NORA's goal is to have over (500) OHV enthusiasts present at this public hearing.

This is serious.  On April 1st of this year, the United States Forest Service issued a 2-year temporary closure of the very popular Tellico OHV Area in North Carolina.  Help Rubicon from turning into a Tellico type situation, by showing your support on April 23rd.

Assemblyman Ted Gaines and a representative from Congressman Tom McClintock's office will be in attendance, as well as Off-Road Hall of Famer, Mark A. Smith.  Local Sacramento news media will also be covering this historic event.

Please call or email Erin Lara, Member Services Director at NORA to let her know if you are able to attend as we are trying to obtain a head count.  She can be reached at (530) 333-1487, ext. 1 or info@nora-usa.com

Meeting Place and Time

Location - 11020 Sun Center Drive # 200; Rancho Cordova, CA 95670

Date & Time - Thursday, April 23rd @ 12:30 PM

----------------------------------------------------------------

We drove the infamous Rubicon Trail for the first time last summer. Sincerely hope it is not the last time.

Jeep Poetry Contest on Twitter Today

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Thu, Apr 09, 2009 @ 11:58 PM

Today we ran a Jeep Poetry Contest on Twitter. (Follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/allthingsjeep. We are allthingsjeep.) Twitter gives you 140 characters - just a sentence or two for each message you post. So Jeep fans had to be creative. Here's the posted entries:

Jeepsterette: I love my Jeep, it's so cheap to keep! It knows me well, so don't you ever tell me it's a heap cuz I LOVE MY JEEP! beep beep!

poetrysue: There are some Peeps Who are into Jeeps But also I find and It boggles the mind The Number of Tweeps Who are into Jeeps

joshpfeffer: I'm @ school; Cold out 2day. Wanna get out, not 2run or 2play. Not any sports, that'd be a dud. Out N a Jeep. Dirty N mud!

lorrie116:  My Jeep haiku: "new spring Jeep untried .. nature and off roads compel .. impetuous pair!"

jeepsrcool:  Jeeps r white Jeeps r blue wish we all had Rubicons & no roads or rules

ColMatt:  Easter time, Peeps time, Always Jeep four wheel time. I'll be Jeepin' and eatin' Peeps, While doin' the Jeep wave at Jeeps.

featherplucker:  2000 wrangler renegade! So beautiful! What shall I call her!

And then we had an entry from my friend, Ben, over at http://www.blaircandy.com/ (yum yum). He didn't play by the rules (I hear he's known for that) but I'm including his entry here because he obviously took an hour or two off from his job to write this masterpiece and his boss will think he's a slacker unless I post it here to show that he was doing something productive with his time. (Hi Pam).

Ben's Jeep poem:

Jeeps, Jeeps, everywhere,

Driven here and driven there.

On the road or on a trail,

Jeeps can carry any sized tail.

Lifted, lowered, tinted, tuned,

Moderate or aggressive from old to new.

From Willys start and sight with no end,

You'll always see Jeep features in Motor Trend.

So forget the MK, the XK, and the KK,

Bring back the CJ, the XJ, and even the MJ.

On May 9th, it's the only way

All Things Jeep - Go Topless Day!

--------------------------------------------------

So, I'm evaluated all poems based on nothing but my opinion, and they are all great. But the one I think was the most clever, the one that captures the essence of Jeepdom is Josh's poem.

Congrats Josh. You win a $25 Gift Certificate to http://www.allthingsjeep.com/. Email me at jean @ allthingsjeep.com for the gift code.

AND, I also loved Lori's Jeep Haiku. I completely "get" the feeling of the combo of nice weather and a Jeep calling you out of work. Calling you to come play. Taking your focus off work and instead, daydreaming of when you can get in the Jeep and take a drive. Lorrie - email me also. I want to send you some goodies too.

Thanks everyone. If you follow us (allthingsjeep) on Twitter, you'll get daily updates on products, offers, specials, etc.

The new Jeep CJ5 in my barn

Posted by Jean Wnuk on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 @ 08:55 AM

On Friday, I came home and was walking into the house when I was intercepted by the CEO of this company (whom I happen to be married to). He asked me to come into the barn and see something. He then said, "I bought a Jeep". My first thought was "Another one? Don't we have enough." I mean, I am the co-owner of a Jeep company, but c'mon,  we already have a yard full! In any case, I held my tongue and said, "Let's see." This is what I found in the barn.

A beautiful '73 Jeep CJ5 barn find. Only 12,500 miles. All original. I can't wait to take a drive (after we take off the plow).

"It was a deal I couldn't pass up."

THIS time, I agree!  If you like CJ5s, visit www.allthingsjeep.com to view our Jeep CJ5 Posters!
