Wow. Just read that Jeep sales were down 50% in January compared to Jan 08. That's huge. According to their announcement,
"Chrysler LLC today reported total January 2009 U.S. sales of 62,157 units, down 55 percent versus the same month in 2008 (137,392 units), and down 31 percent from December 2008 (89,813 units). Total sales were suppressed by a significant reduction in fleet sales, which is aligned with the Company's sales strategy helping to maintain or improve the overall residual value of Chrysler vehicles for our customers. Fleet sales were down 81 percent for January compared to the same time last year."
And among other concerns, this leads my friends and family to worry that Jeep t-shirt, tire cover and decal sales will also be going away. And I'll be out of a job, and be living in my Jeep. (Lucky for me, my current one is an Unlimited.)
I try to assure everyone that even if Chrysler (or whoever bought Jeep) stopped making them completely, there's still enough existing Jeep buyers to keep me and my little business In Business. My philosophy is that it would just make us love our Jeeps even more and we could potentially get even get MORE business from the "nostalgia" factor. Mom thinks this is a crock of sh*t.
So voice your opinion. What do you think? If the Jeep brand goes away, will you have MORE or LESS allegience to the Jeep name. In other words, will you buy more or less Jeep t-shirts? ;) Should I go out and start a new business?
