I live I ride I am Jeep Tagline

So, whatcha think? Do you like Chrysler's new tagline for Jeep?

I Live. I Ride. I Am. Jeep. I Live I Ride I Am Jeep

How about their new commercials. If you haven't see it, you can catch one here. This one is called "Clocks"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIEBVDCNK28

I don't like it. Not even a little bit. (says Jean, from www.AllThingsJeep.com.) Here's my list of complaints.

1. I DO live, so they got me there, but I don't understand the relevance.

2. I DON'T ride. I DRIVE. I do ride a lot of things - horses, bicycles, amusement park rides. But my Jeep's not one of them. And if I'm riding in a Jeep, then I'm the passenger, and what fun is that?

3. I AM? Huh? What am I? A Jeep?

This whole ad compaign reminds me of those old Ad-Libs (remember those?) and makes we want to fill in the blanks. "I LIVE at 2 Shaker Road in Shirley. I RIDE my bike to work sometimes. I AM a mom, photographer, Jeep owner.

I know these type of ads are about branding, and evoking a feeling in us about the Jeep brand. (Remember, your brand isn't what You think about your company, it's about what your Customers think of your company) But this doesn't really evoke positive feelings about Jeep. It evokes feelings like I should be working but instead I'm watching the clock to when work is over and then I can go drive (not ride) my Jeep.  Hey, maybe that's the point?

So what do you think? What tagline would you create for Jeep if Chrsyler was giving you hundreds of thousands of dollars to create a tagline and ad campaign for them? Post your ideas here. I'll give a set of 10 Jeep decals (your choice) to the person whose idea I like best. (I'll give you until Nov 16th to post.) And hey, maybe Chrsyler will read this and hire you to be their next marketing genius!

If you want to read the whole story behind this branding campaign and what the campaign will look like over the next year, check out the details here. It's the "Official" document and it's pretty interesting.

I saw that stupid commercial, and thought to myself, whoever came up with that must drive a moped to work and the closest they've ever been to a jeep was watching an old MASH rerun. So here it is big company executives, you want to advertise jeeps, go to the people who drive them. For example, I live in Southeast Texas, went to Crystal Beach for this past 4th of July (the community wiped out by Hurricne Ike)...it was the biggest unofficial Jeep convention I've ever seen, would've made an awsome commercial ! ...and this happens everywhere, you don't need somebody in a cubicle making up your commercials, we're out here waiting for you to show up with a film crew, and we'd do it for free !

The Jeep brand has taken on some major changes recently that, may comprimise what most of us perceive as "A Jeep Thing". Must I remind you that, this is the very same company that, came up with the "Jeep" Compass and The "Jeep" Patriot and to add insult to injury the Patriot is now available with an "Off-road package. Stay tuned for more. (YJs Rule !)

So I don't like the ad either but I do like Jay's idea...here's a variation that tag with Jean's "Drive" and not ride in mind - I here ya on that one Jean...

I live in western NY, where the weather can be very unpredictable. I depend on my Jeep to get me thru everything Mother Nature can throw at me. My idea of recreation is trying to find obstacles to conquer with my Wrangler. I climb,I crawl,I get there,Jeep!

Oddly enough, my animation company has just recently made a spec Jeep commercial called Jeep "Treasure", and we used an old Jeep tagline. "Only in a Jeep" I would love to hear your thoughts and input about it.

I always say "It's a Jeep, we don't pass it we go over it."

This certainly is a stupid ad campaign. "I Am" last I knew was what Jesus called himself - not a Jeep lol. Thing about this campaign that makes no sense, is most of these commercials don't show A SINGLE THING about a jeep AT ALL until the last frame where they zoom in on one. There is not ONE THING about the commercial that tells me "oh wow that's why I need a jeep!"

If this and the Dodge Journey commercial is a preview of Chrysler Corp style of advertising to come, god help use. Maybe this is how they do it in Italy.

Very "Car"-tesian. It should be in Latin.

I like the add and I get the message. Well off to Jeep!

For me, it's I ride (off-road), I break, I spend! I always enjoy the Jeep commercials (at least most) but this new catch phase can be twisted in many ways, just like what I did. So I guess it works, since you remember it!

Really? Cynicism is dead, (Jean). Maybe if you owned a jeep you wouldn't be so critical. And if you do own a jeep, I would be ashamed to trail ride next to you. There is a reason you are blogging on the internet and not making any money coming up with slogans for Jeep. I love my JEEP. I love this campaign. I'm actually having a custom decal made for the back of my rig that says "I Am JEEP".

I am a person, my Jeep is just part of my persona. Just like the "Live without limits" slogan misses the point. I have moral limits, ethical limits, and social limites. I even 4 wheel within limits, so as to protect the environment.

This monotone chant bothered me from the start, particularly the word, "ride", which is passive. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Still, it's not as lame as the Ford slogans run for the first Taurus which said nothing about the car: "Taurus for us" followed by "Have you driven a Ford lately?"

One of the most irritating commercials ever. What is really puzzling is that Jeep being an American brand at a time when Toyota is taking a hit ... you'd think they would have found somebody to sing the tagline that didn't sound Asian. Whoever sings it needs to keep their day job My ears say "ouch!"

Who sings the latest version on the song? It's a young female voice. It's kind of dancey and cool. She kind of croons the "ahhhhahahaaahaaaaa" line. I like it!

I LOVE IT!!!
I Live
I Ride
I am
JEEP!!
Maybe you have to do more then drive your jeep to and from work to get it. I am getting that put on my jeep.

How do you ride a Jeep? Do you ride while someone else drives? Instead of saying I'm going to go drive my car, should I now say I'm going to go ride my car? Look I ride a Harley and you ride a bike not a car.
